Translation
Ø From Afrikaans or Dutch into English.
Ø From English or Dutch into Afrikaans.
Translation
includes all the language editing functions mentioned below, and proofreading.

Editing
Ø In English and Afrikaans.
Language
editing includes checking all the significant language functions, i.e. clarity, style, syntax,
vocabulary, punctuation, and spelling.
Format
Translation
and editing are done in either MS Word 2000 or Corel Word Perfect 8 format. Work
must also be submitted in either of these formats or in Acrobat Reader (PDF) format.
If
you submit the work to be done by e-mail or on a computer disk, you will receive a finished, typed product that is ready to
be printed (depending on whether you have to edit it again to adapt to the settings of your printer).
If
you submit the work to be translated on paper, the translation will be done on computer and you will receive the product via
e-mail or on a computer disk in the format of your choice (MS Word 2000 or Corel Word Perfect 8).
Co-operation
I
work in close co-operation with clients, and throughout the whole process problematic vocabulary or other aspects will be
discussed with you. For this reason, it is important that you include all your
contact particulars when you submit the work to be done.
FEES PAYABLE
NOTE: The fees mentioned below are applicable this year and
may be adapted in future.

Translation: R25,00 per hundred words.

Editing: R12,00 per hundred words.
Payment options
Payment must preferably be made cash on delivery, in one of the following ways:

By bank
guaranteed cheque.

Direct
payment into my account. The deposit slip must
be faxed to me. Particulars of my account will
be made available to you on request.

transfer (Internet banking) of the amount
to my account. Particulars of my account will
be made available to you on request.

HISTORY
Earlier Years
After
obtaining a B.A. degree in languages, with English and German as main subjects, in 1977 and a Higher Education Diploma (HED)
in 1978 at the University of the Orange Free State, I taught English as a subject at various schools in the Free State, South
Africa.
Recent Years
After
successfully completing the accreditation examination of the South African Translators' Institute (SATI) in 1995, I became
an accredited freelance translator in English and Afrikaans. Since then I have
obtained valuable experience in translating and editing a wide variety of texts in various fields and on different levels
of sophistication. Since 2001, I have been a full-time language practitioner.
What I Do
Although
my main focus is translating from Afrikaans into English and vice versa, as well as editing in both languages, I can also
assist you in translating Dutch text into either English or Afrikaans.

This
is my own private enterprise. I work alone, which means you deal directly with
me when you use my services.
